Making art is my way of striving to give ideas and emotions physical reality.
I am a painter and printmaker in lithography, intaglio, monoprint and relief print techniques.
I am interested in the continuity of artistic expression over time, our relationship to the natural world and paradoxes presented by modern life. I draw inspiration from multiple sources including life experiences, dreams, myth, news stories, literary works, song lyrics and the natural world.
My work is mainly figurative but not strictly realistic. I use unrealistic space in my work to create emotional impact. I am attracted to ancient artifacts and enjoy representing them in contemporary settings. I also have a reverence for the animal world, and incorporate animal imagery in my work both as subject matter and as symbolic elements.
